"Nap time is fun time"

At least I think those are the lyrics to a Yo-Gabba-gabba song. Well actually my BF just informed me it's "Bath-time is fun time" but oh well, this works too.
Connor blissfully snoozing on the couch
Tonight is the last class of the quarter, yippy skippy. I should be jumping up and down for joy but I'm feeling rather blah. Its a very situational blah and I know things will get better soon. I'm just pretty worn out from having to always try and juggle/balance a family on one person's wages (wages that are very heavily garnished). And the guilt just creeps in. I feel guilty for not working. I know going to school and raising our family is "working" but monetarily I am not seeing any gains right now. I'm going to just keep swimming/trucking/hanging on.

On to less depressive issues:

Today's Smoothie:

Banana
MSM powder
Pea protein powder
Frozen Strawberries
Spirulina
A little bit of coconut crystals
Water

Today's quinoa creation:

Cooked quinoa
Peas cooked in olive oil
Seasonings
Vegan butter
Coconut aminos

Hot yoganess and Giveaway from 260 Days, No Repeats

I'm short on time but I wanted to post about my love for hot yoga. The first time I went, I had to take a little break, the heat got to me but yesterday I didn't have that issue and I'm going again today. I'm sore but fabulously so. I've been on a really big smoothie kick lately, I wish I had the resolve to do only smoothies but I feel I'm working my way up to it.

This morning's smoothie:
-Banana, frozen blueberries, MSM, pea protein powder, stevia, baby lettuce mix and rice milk

I just entered this giveaway. Check it out. OH and this giveaway too

Serious craving for brussel sprouts

Right now I have broccoli and brussel sprouts roasting in the oven. They were marinated in Extra virgin olive oil, honey mustard, lemon juice, and pink himalayan salt. Yum yum. Then we will top it with nutritional yeast and serve a huge kale salad on the side. The weather is absolutely gorgeous and I'm excited to take Connor to the park later.

I started the day with lots of water, and leftover green juice

Our breakfast smoothie:  Kiwi, grapes, banana, chia seeds and coconut milk

Alright the above was my draft from a few days ago.
 May 17, 2012
I've implemented a sticker chart reward program for myself. LOL Yesterday was a fabulous day in the eats and exercise department and I'm already seeing a huge difference in energy and general outlook. I suppose waking up to a smiling baby, or listening to ABBA, or finding out I won another Morrocco Method
I'm uber excited to try this product. I feel spoiled!

Here's my food journal from yesterday:

  • 1 qt detox drink (pink himalayan salt, water, apple cider vinegar, lemon, honey)
  • Orange, carrot, celery, lemon juice
  • Salad- baby romaine, extra virgin olive oil, hemp seeds with my pesto veggies (cukes, tomato, celery tossed in vegan pesto) with 1 half slice garlic sourdough bread
  • Smoothie: avocado, banana, cacao, Dandy blend, flax meal, kale, spinach, coconut almond milk, stevia
  • GT original Kombucha

Chocolatey "coffee" smoothie

I'm gonna have to set a date to start Ani's 15 day fat blast as I'm eating solid food (almost all healthy).

So far today I have consumed:

  • 2 (16 oz) green juice
  • Salad- cucumber, tomato, kalamata olives soaked in coconut aminos, braggs seasoning and sprinkled with hemp seeds on a bed of romaine. No dressing needed! And when I say salad, I mean A HUGE bowl, not your regular bowl, the extra mixing size bowl.
  • My new chocolatey coffee smoothie
  • Packed for dinner (I have class tonight): Green juice, green apple and the cucumber salad

Chocolatey "Coffee Smoothie"
- 1 frozen banana
-1 heaping tsp of Dandy blend
-1 half an avocado
-1 tbsp of raw cacao powder
-Unsweetened coconut milk
-Spirulina

I love this blend, its creamy and rich. I am not a coffee person but the flavor that the Dandy blend lends (like my rhyme? tee hee) is phenomenal.

As for my workouts:

-Today I swam with my sisters for about 20 minutes, then we hit the jacuzzi, then the steam room, then the dry sauna. Can we say BLISS?

-Then after I managed to put Connor down for a nap, I popped on Jillian Michael's 30 day shred and did level 3. WOOO. My butt hurts. Today is the 3rd day consecutive for doing this workout. I think maybe I need to make a reward chart for myself.

So there was my ideal food journal (update 5/11)
I ended up eating some of the kiddos dinner before class, roasted broccoli and rice and tuna. (still working on cutting out the fish!)
Then I had a handful of saltines out the door

I ate my regular dinner at class. Then when I finally got home around 10pm, got the kids in bed I had 2 bowls of their cereal with coconut milk. SMH!

It started with a bean smoothie.

Yup you read that right. So I was trucking along with day 2 but having to make food for everyone else seriously zapped my willpower. So I decided to take a portion of the boys' meal and throw into the blender. LOL does that count? It's still a smoothie. I still had loads of fresh fruit/veggie smoothies but then around dinner time I caved to the beans. Oh How I love me some beans. I threw a cup into the blender with some sauerkraut juice and nutritional yeast. I know, I am so weird. So I didn't turn it exactly into smoothie texture but more like a delicious bean dip. It was good.

Then Saturday came and it was my beautiful sister Shanelle's 18th Birthday party. While everyone noshed on cake (I brought a vegan one for Connor). I had chips, salsa and fresh avocado. Then I may have imbibed a couple drinks and somehow at the end of the night I ended up wolfing down 2 hotdogs. I'm completely grossed out with myself.

Sunday saw us driving to Mill Creek to pick up Hanna and Ollie and then head over to Oliver's parents house for some family time. We had tons of fresh fruits and veggies. On the way home Ollie asked for fast food. He hardly EVER asks for food, usually I"m having to encourage him to eat, so we couldn't turn him down. I had curly fries.

Woke up this morning (something about Monday's) ready to get back in the swing of things, as always. I did a HUGE Costco run today. IT will be a smoothielicious day.

Ani's 15 Day Fat Blast and Winning a MM product (Thank you Lauren of Ginger is the new Pink)

Ani's book is well written and has some great recipes that really inspired me. I devour health food/nutrition books and this time I decided to actually fill out the worksheets that were in it. I've actually taken to writing my thoughts/food throughout the day and one thing I can say for sure is.... typing has KILLED my handwriting. LOL.

My breakfast smoothie: Unsweetened coconut-almond milk, spinach, spirulina, strawberry-banana coconut yogurt (So Delicious indeed), chia seeds, flax meal, probiotic powder, banana and stevia

Here is what I've handwritten thus far:

I am starting Ani's 15 day fat blast but it is difficult to write because Connor is pulling on me trying to nurse but here's to Phase 1, Day 1.

1.) I want to lose weight because I feel jiggly. I miss my old wardrobe. I miss feeling comfortable in jeans. Since giving birth to Connor the only thing I want to wear is yoga pants or pajama bottoms. I long to regain some self esteem.

2.) I need to lose weight because I need to be healthy, fit, and confident.

3.) I will allow myself to change and become healthier because I deserve it and so does my family to have a healthy, fit, and happy Jessica.

4.) I will succeed on this plan because I need to prove to myself I can follow through with my wants/needs/desires.

I'm feeling a really harsh craving for rice and vegan butter. I'm fighting my first UTI that I've had in a very long time. And I suddenly feel overwhelmed and not motivated. Connor does not like the idea of me sitting down to write and I know I have a paper that needs to be written by tomorrow. In this moment I am now questioning why I can't just have that rice and be happy. I acknowledge that I would feel bliss for those first few bites but then feel regretful and chubby. I really want to stick to this, so I am going to go create another smoothie.

Lunch smoothie: Green tea, echinacea tea, banana, orange, frozen berry blend, probiotic powder, chlorophyll drops

I'm feeling pretty triumphant. I went and had 2 tsp ACV in water and the above smoothie. Scrumpdiddlyumptious. I did have about half a cup of lightly roasted broccoli in sesame oil because I was making it for Connor. (Boy that boy can pack the broccoli and nutritional yeast away)

I just put Oliver's lunch together for work and I really wanted a spinach salad but I settled for fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and water. Yum. My sense of strength just went up another notch.

Just got back from picking up the Jakers from school. I'm cutting class tonight as I'm still recuping from this UTI. I really want rice! So instead I made this:

Dinner Smoothie: Coconut almond milk, banana, raw almond butter, coconut oil, raw hemp seeds and a tiny bit of raw cacao. Plus a glass of ACV in water.

And this brings me up to date now, I finished helping Jake with homework, I'm nursing my constant nurser Connor and sipping this above smoothie as I try to figure out dinner for the boys and commit myself to writing that paper!!

OH and awesome news: I won a Morrocco Method hair product through Lauren from Ginger is the New Pink.
